HISTORY
The First Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC) has been in existence for 150 years, organized as the Union Baptist Church in 1875. The church has served as a distinguished house of worship for its members, the Prattville community, and the greater tri-county area. t was an old wood framed building donated by the First Presbyterian Church of Prattville, Alabama. According to the recorded oral history accounts, the original building was believed to have been at a site referred to as Dink Boothe Hill in Autauga County and some say Autauga Creek. In the early 1920s, the church was relocated by a team of oxen to its current location. The name was changed from Union Baptist Church to First Missionary Baptist Church. The church has stood as a leading institution in the community hosting numerous outreach programs, civic engagements, and annual historical civil rights celebrations among other significant roles to support local causes.
